Hey everyone :)
While researching for information on my topic for the project, I found an incredible website. It is actually a campaign incorporated by a company called "NOW Foundation" which enables women to love their bodies. On this website they have pictures posted of advertisments. They have different pages for the different types of advertisements and they have a blog which is updated frequently, which you can read as wel. What triggered my eye was that they have two options on their web page for positive ads and one for offensive ads. I clicked on both links and was suprised to see the offensive ad section. They have adverts which are offensive to women and a caption where they have explained why it is offensive. Similarly, the positive adverts are adverts of women but is displayed different and aren't offensive to women and just like the offensive ads link they have captions under each picture explaing why it is positive. Both of these sections made me more aware of adverts that were offensiven and positive to women but in a way I'd never even dreamed of. Also they have a link where you can find out what you can do to help. I have decided to use this as my project source because I find it extremely helpful and truthful. If you would like to view these pictures on the site, the link for positive ads is: http://loveyourbody.nowfoundation.org/positiveads.html and the link for offensive ads is: http://loveyourbody.nowfoundation.org/offensiveads.html
Here is a preview of what you can find on this website:
The caption for this ad is as follows: "Dolce & Gabbana: This ad is beyond offensive, with a scene evoking a gang rape and reeking of violence against women. In an interview, NOW Foundation President Kim Gandy said, "It's in Esquire, so they probably don't think a stylized gang rape will sell clothes to women, but what is more likely is that they think it will get them publicity. It's a provocative ad but it is provoking things that really are not what we want to have provoked. We don't need any more violence.""
